How to Make Your Garden Beds More Hospitable to Your Plants

It is a pretty common thing for people who are in the process of setting up a new garden to find out that the spot they selected is not particularly fertile, or receptive. Though it might cause you to want to throw your hands up in the air and declare it a complete disaster, you can fix the situation. Remove the plants that have survived from the plant beds and put them aside while you do some correcting of the space. Next, return to the beds and spread them with an even layer of gravel to increase the drainage. Follow this up with a downy layer of hearty organic compost. Now that the environment is more hospitable replace the plants and watch them thrive in the very space that you thought would be your gardening demise. Oh and give yourself a break for the initial mistake, you were not the first, and will not be the last to encounter this issue. It is all part of the learning curve.
